School Self Evaluation

School Self Evaluation

SSE

The Department of Education and Skills requires each school to engage in the practice of self-reflection. This process is called School Self Evaluation (SSE). SSE is an integral process in school life that is designed to focus on school improvement. It is a “collaborative, inclusive, and reflective process of internal school review”.

An evidence-based approach, it involves gathering information from all members of the school community (Board of Management, Principal, Deputy Principal, teachers, students, and parents) and then making judgements and action plans based on the evidence gathered using the 6-step process.

The SSE process aims to improve the quality of the education we provide for our students here in Luttrellstown Community College. SSE also means focusing on areas that merit improvement and deciding on actions that should be taken to bring about improvements in those areas to maintain high standards.

School self-evaluation is supported by a quality framework, Looking at Our School (LAOS) 2022, which provides a set of criteria or descriptors of quality in schools.
