Localise Youth Volunteering, challenges young people to come together and make a difference in their local community by being of service to others.
Through the Localise Youth Volunteering programmes, students directly address the needs of the most disadvantaged groups in their local area, serving the homeless, the elderly, the disabled and other groups needing support.
The vision of Localise is a world where all young people have the opportunity to volunteer locally and become pro-active citizens and community leaders.
LCC has been involved with Localise in the last number of years, completing a wide range of projects with different groups.
We have worked closely with Connolly Hospital’s Mental Health Ward and the Daughters of Charity to host parties, celebrate the health care workers of the hospital and to thank them for their continued work. Students designed handmade Christmas cards and created gift bags to thank the staff in the hospital for their continued hard work. Students also organised a party where they played bingo, performed music, and danced the afternoon away!
We hope Localise will continue to be a major feature in LCC for many years to come.
