Daithí Ó Murchú, Príomhoide Tánaisteach/Deputy Principal LCC

Since being appointed as Deputy Principal at Luttrellstown Community College in 2017, I am proud to be part of a progressive school that values unity, creativity and the holistic development of our students at all times. Each day, I am excited to observe first-hand the unique technology-enhanced learning environment that exists at our 21st century college. This is built on a culture of reflective and restorative practice; which has as its core purpose, the building and maintaining of positive relationships throughout our diverse school community. As a former English, History and ICT & Business Teacher, as well as a qualified Guidance Counsellor, promoting the quality of learning and the overall wellbeing of our students remains a daily priority for me in my role as Príomhoide Tánaisteach at LCC.

Le breis is fiche bliain taithí i meánscoileanna lán-Ghaeilge, táim fíor-bhródúil chomh maith le mo ról tacaíochta le fás agus forbairt Choláiste na Tulchann. Tá an scoil ag dul ó neart go neart le blianta anuas; mar cheannródaí eiseamláireach ag cur deiseanna foghlama ar fáil trí mheán na Gaeilge ag an dara leibhéal i mBaile Átha Cliath 15.

Míle buíochas

I am delighted to have been entrusted with the role of DP here in Luttrellstown Community College and it's a pleasure to be one of a team of 3 Deputy Principals.

I started teaching in 1998 as a Geography & History teacher. In 2013 I embraced the opportunity to take on a role in senior management. I have had the privilege since then to work in a variety of school communities across various sectors. I have developed educational partnerships with a range of agencies with a focus on school culture & leadership for change. I have a professional interest in quality teaching & learning and developing the place of student voice in our learning communities.

As part of my role in LCC l aim to co-create and honour a school culture committed to the values of restorative practice that will support all to flourish and achieve both personally and academically with the focus on developing meaningful engagement of our students and the whole school community.

I want to be to part of a school culture where empathy, creativity, independent learning, and quality work are valued and nurtured.

I am delighted to have been appointed to Deputy Principal in Luttrellstown Community College. I began my teaching career in 2000, where I went on to spend the next 21 years teaching in a co-educational ETB school in Dublin 22 before moving here to LCC. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working within a variety of roles and I have been involved in many curricular programmes such as the Junior Cycle, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. I have built positive relationships with different stakeholders and worked in partnership with them to support and encourage our students to reach their full academic and holistic potential.

Here in Luttrellstown Community College, I am proud to be part of a culture where we instil confidence and contentment within our students, helping them to grow and mature into responsible citizens who will make positive contributions to our communities through their strength, wisdom and kindness.
