Dream space ambassadors
The Dreamspace Ambassadors are tech savvy teenagers who love to help the community. Every few weeks, about once a month they take part in online training sessions with the Dreamspace team in Microsoft. During these online training sessions, they learn how to code and build their own video games. From what they learn in the trainings they teach to others who are beginners or advanced coders.
We have run beginner coding classes, teaching fellow classmates the basics of microbit, we ran more advanced classes for students who have experience in coding where We taught others how to make their very own pixelated video games and, more recently, taught the elderly how to spot scams and use their phones.
Their most recent project that we worked on was the OWLs or Older Wiser Learners. Unfortunately, scammers tend to target the elderly as they are not as educated in the technology world as the younger generations are, so us Dreamspace Ambassadors got straight to work. First, we attended a meeting about AI and scams, then once we were educated ourselves they decided to make a presentation to present it to the elderly. Next, they planned the event and assigned roles to everyone. Finally, we hosted the event in Luttrellstown Community Centre and educated each and every person on how to spot a scam and AI, we even learned a from it too!
The Dreamspace Ambassadors will graduate this May in Microsoft, where we are hoping to get the highest-ranking award the platinum award. As well as getting an amazing award we will also receive some Microsoft merchandise!
