A Science and Biology inspection will take place next week in the College. A number of students will be invited to take part in a focus group as part of the inspection. Please see information about subject inspection and focus groups at link here.

Detail regarding the focus groups:
Day 1 of the Inspection
Using the criteria below, and after consulting class lists, the inspector will invite at least 15 students for each intended focus group to volunteer to take part. The inspector consults with the principal or school-nominated teacher as necessary in that process. The students will be provided with participation agreement forms for themselves and for their parent/guardian. The principal/nominated teacher is requested to remind the students to return the signed forms if they wish to volunteer to participate in the focus group, by/on the morning of day two of the inspection (16th January 2025).
Day 2 of the Inspection
If more than 10 students volunteers return forms, the inspector will apply criteria in the selection of up to 10 students from amongst those who volunteered for the focus group. The criteria are:
- that participation is voluntary and that the students are happy to be involved
- an equal balance of gender (if in a co-educational setting)
- participants will represent in so far as possible all class and year groups, and programme
- participants of varying ability and interests
- participants with additional educational needs
- a mix of participants from different ethnic backgrounds
After the focus group is conducted, the principal is requested to retain the completed focus group participation agreements forms as per your school records-management policy.
