Fantastic Win for Boys U14 Gaelic Team

Well done to the boys U14 Gaelic team on winning the final on Thursday 12th of January. The score was 5:12 to 1:2.

Building Project Update

A Summary of information with regard the new building for Luttrellstown C.C. February 2012.

• At a recent meeting on January 24^th 2012 with the Department building planners a draft plan of the new building was explained to LCC representatives. Present on behalf of the college were Príomhoide and Chair of LCC, Dr Marie Griffin, CEO and Paul Mc Evoy Co. Dublin VEC . The process for how the rapid build works was outlined to us in detail. The time frame for the planning and construction of the new campus was explained.
• Phase One with HKTT as project managers will plan for the construction of a building based on a schedule of accommodation for 650 students. Because LCC is part of a rapid bundle our project will progress at a good pace.
• All going to plan we will see phase one of the new building in place for the start of the 2013 school year.
• The next step currently in train relates to tenders being sought from contractors. In this same time span planning permission will be lodged with Fingal Co.Co.
• The Department has also commenced the process for pre- qualifying the design team for stage 2 which will include the enhanced community facility (funded by Fingal County Council). An advertisement to this effect is on the e-tender website. The closing date for submissions from interested parties was 16^th January, 2012. Officials from County Dublin VEC will be involved in the selection process. Also, while the Department will be the client in legal terms, County Dublin VEC have been requested to lead and manage the stage 2 project which they are pleased to undertake.
• County Dublin VEC in conjunction with LCC plan to hold an event to inform the local community of these plans. This event should take place late February or early March.

As Principal of Luttrellstown Community College my aim from the beginning is to develop the college as a centre of learning with the highest standards. As a school community we encourage the development of all the abilities of our students in a supportive atmosphere. Our students have made us very proud in our first year, their talents and initiative as first years have amazed us as teachers and parents. Our great teaching team has already created standards of high expectation and achievement and they carefully support the character development of our students.

The journey ahead is an exciting and challenging one! This is a unique opportunity for teachers, parents and students to participate in the development of a new modern college that pursues educational excellence in a caring and inclusive environment.
